UPDATES AND INFORMATION FROM MAYOR BRETT LAMBRECHT
City Council Meeting 3/2/26 Review:
A reminder that the general election will take place on June 9, 2026. Positions on the ballot for city council will be Mayor, Aldermen wards 1 and 3, and two at-large alderman. Petitions must be circulated for all of these positions and are due at City Hall by 4:00 pm on April 6, 2026.
Don't forget to apply for the Primary Residence Property Tax Credit. Also, if you've also applied for the Homestead Tax Credit and/or VA tax credits, you can still received the primary residence credit. Be sure to apply.

Police Chief Anderson presented the PD's 2025 annual report. Highlights included: the PD received 7,517 calls for service; the PD received just short of $40,000 in grants; theft was at a five-year low, but traffic stops were at a five-year high.
The city tree dump is open.
The city street crew will be starting pothole filling soon.
The council approved a contract with Waste Management for collection of waste and recycling in Wahpeton.
The council voted to discontinue negotiations with NDSCS for its land on the corner of 11th Street and 14th Avenue North to be used for the location of the proposed Southern Prairie Activity and Recreation Center.
